The bride, Olivia, tells us what made her Eastern Yacht Club wedding truly special and unique! “Lou and I wrote our own vows and did not share anything about them at all so they were a total surprise the day of our wedding. When we said our vows, we wound up saying some of the very same things and it just showed how undeniably made for each other we are. We both promised that this life together would be nothing short of an adventure. Dancing with my grandpa was amazing and we both loved dancing with our niece Zoey. She had so much fun and adores her Uncle Louie. I will cherish the pictures of her holding his hand and smiling up at him like that forever. For my something blue I used a piece of Lou’s police uniform in the shape of a heart and sewed it inside of my dress over my heart. My other favorite DIY element were all of the chalkboard signs. My sister in law spent hours and days working on them and rewriting them a million times to make them perfect. Instead of having a guest book, I spent weeks making a scrapbook with pre-placed glue dots and spaces for the photo booth pictures. Guests got to take pictures in the photobooth then pick a page to place them and write a special note. It worked out perfectly and it’s a gorgeous scrapbook with so much meaning.”

DIY Project: Old Bay Caramel Popcorn

Crab Cakes & Football, that’s what Maryland does! Well… we also know we do Old Bay, a lot of it! Nothing says Maryland more than our go-to Crab Seasoning and if you’re like us, you’ve tried it on everything!

Have you tried it on Caramel Popcorn? Let us be the first to tell you that it’s DELICIOUS! The mix of salty, sweet and spice is enough to make your taste buds ask for more! Follow our go-to recipe below to make yourself a batch of Old Bay Caramel Popcorn that’s perfect for any get together, gift (hint hint…bridal party, family, vendors, ect) or as a homemade favor at your wedding!

Old Bay Caramel Popcorn

Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 1 hour
Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients:

16 cups popped popcorn (3 microwave popcorn bags)
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
2 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup light corn syrup (the clear syrup)
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons Old Bay
1 Bag of Milk Chocolate Chips (We used Microwave Candy Drizzles Melts and it was so easy!)

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 250 degrees.

Step 2: Pop all of your popcorn and pour into disposable pans. You can also use cookie sheets with parchment paper for this step. Be sure to remove all kernels that didn’t pop!

Step 3: In a heavy saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar, and light corn syrup. On medium-high heat, bring to a rapid boil and boil for five minutes, stirring as necessary. Remove from burner and stir in vanilla extract and Old Bay. Tip: We made the caramel in two batches to ensure an even consistency!

Step 4: Pour evenly over the plain popcorn and stir to coat and ensure even coverage.

Step 5: Place pans in preheated oven. Put in oven for 15 minutes. Take it out and stir it. Repeat this every 15 minutes for one hour.

Step 6: Let popcorn cool and break up large chunks with your hand. Melt milk chocolate chips on a double boiler or in the microwave and pour evenly over Caramel Popcorn.

Step 7: You’re Popcorn is ready! For favors and gifts, we recommend packaging it in mason jars like these cute ones we found at the Dollar Store. Place a piece of fabric over the top of the lid (keep it in place by screwing the second piece over top) or simply tie a ribbon with a gift tag around the top and you’re good to go!

Just minutes before their wedding the skies opened up and it absolutely poured. But the couple must have had someone looking out for them because the rain passed just in time for the staff at the venue to dry every chair and make their outdoor ceremony possible. And it turned out to be a beautiful evening. You can really tell how much this couple loves one another. The groom could not hold those tears back as his bride walked down the aisle. Abbi’s father married them in a very heartfelt ceremony. Not only were the couple supported by a large gathering of friends and family, they had the largest bridal party I have ever captured with over 30 people!”

Not only does the bride-to-be have amazing style, her long sequin gown compliments the vintage Charm City Carousel in Baltimore perfectly. Did we mention there is a guest appearance by the couple’s rescue Pitbull Terrier, Bear? Joy of Joy Michelle Photography tells us, “Emily and Kevin’s Carousel themed engagement pictures sets the bar high. Not only did they choose the most romantic setting, but they wore some great outfits too! After the enjoying some wine and cannolis at vaccaro’s cafe (in little Italy) , we made our way to the Charm City Carousel just as the sun was setting. Emily wore a stunning raspberry colored Badgley Mischka gown from rent the runway and it could not have gone more perfectly with the setting! The view from the carousel of the inner harbor was breathtaking! Emily and Kevin recently purchased their first home in Baltimore and could point out some of their favorite restaurants and even the buildings they work in from where we stood. I just love that the location was meaningful to them and that they wanted their engagement photos done close to home.”
