We adore how intimate, and free-spirited this Jennings Randolph Lake wedding was, and Jacqie Q Photography captured every rain-drenched moment of it! The bride, Lacey, shares more! “Most people would think that rain on your wedding day is the last thing that you would want. Especially when your ceremony is taking place on two pontoon boats in the middle of a lake. But for our wedding, those people are wrong. Honestly, the torrential downpour coupled with tornado warning winds that began right before we said our vows was the best thing that could have happened. When the rain fell, it began to wash away the pretense and formality that befalls any ceremony, no matter how intimate it is. As the skies opened up, we squeezed in together taking shelter under the small roof. Bringing literal closeness to the already close group of friends and family aboard the vessels. By the end of the ceremony, we were all soaking wet (some more so than others, shout out to my sister/Matron of Honor for keeping the boat afloat and to our amazing photographers who captured the beauty of the rain and its role in our ceremony) but we were married! As we moved on to the reception, my dad changed from his waterlogged suit into his quintessential white t-shirt and jeans, while the girls kicked off their heels to squelch about in the mud and muck for pictures. It was perfect. That summer storm was the one thing that I could not have planned, but it ended up being such a memorable part of our laid-back, natural, beautiful, summer wedding.”

We hope you all had a fantastic holiday weekend (we sure did!) and are easing into the week with a Tuesday, rather than a Monday! To keep the patriotic spirit alive, we are sharing this red white and blue styled shoot from Images by Amber Robinson. Amber says “I teamed up with wedding stylist Rachel Rice to bring to life a patriotic inspired elopement at a private Baltimore Residence. With summer knocking on the door, I was so excited to put together a concept that was inspired by the essence of summer and America. Red, White and Blue, summer berries, and our Capitol, Washington DC are all subtly acknowledged in this shoot.”

This Mountain Branch Golf Club Wedding by Kathleen Hertel Photography is FULL of family and 4th of July fun! Today’s bride tells us,“From the moment we got engaged, our families jumped right in to help us plan (I think that they secretly worried we would never find that perfect person) :) Byron’s sister started stalking me with Pinterest ideas and was always there to give me suggestions. I immediately asked my best friend Tria to be my Maid of Honor and we started the planning. I initially had my heart set on getting married at the Zoo when I found out that we could have a penguin at our reception, but from the moment we walked into the tent at Mountain Branch we knew it was our venue. The icing on the cake was that they had the 4th of July available. I am a Christmas baby, so it is only fitting that my anniversary should be a national holiday as well :) And the thought of having fireworks every year to celebrate with was a fun idea. We reached out to friends and family to make sure that they could make the trip and everyone was all in (especially since it was a 3 day weekend). We also changed directions on the theme since we were planning a beachy teal wedding–now we were full on non-tacky patriotic. We straddled that line of tacky and tasteful and had so much fun adding little punches of whimsy when we could. We set our sights on having the best party that we possibly could and have been told by all of our guests that it was their favorite wedding ever!”

4th of July Wedding at the Anchor Inn by JFannon Photography

We normally take Fridays off, but we had to kick off this holiday weekend with some festive fanfair! Jess+Keith are about to celebrate their 1 year anniversary of their 4th of July wedding at the Anchor Inn, they have since welcomed a beautiful baby to their family, and we are thrilled to share this wedding from J Fannon Photography with you all! For a little bit of a different point of view, today we are sharing the groom’s thoughts on the day! “Although our wedding wasn’t in Baltimore, we wanted to do some of our pictures there (including our first look) since we have such a connection with the city. We took some photos along the harbor, and were fortunate enough to finish before a light rain started. By the time the wedding party reached the venue along the Patapsco River, the weather had cleared up and it was a beautiful day for a wedding. After exchanging personally written vows as part of a heartfelt ceremony, we were able to officially start the celebration part of the evening. When we decided on July 4th as our wedding date, we were hoping that there would be plenty of fireworks set off nearby, and we were not disappointed. All in all, it was a wonderful day and the perfect way to start off our journey together as a married couple.”
