Federal Hill Engagement by Krista A. Jones Photography

When we stumbled across this Baltimore themed engagement session at Federal Hill Park, we were in love. Krista A. Jones Photography was the photographer behind this beautiful session, so we’ll let her take it from here:

“Tiffany and Douglas are high school sweethearts who met at a bowling alley almost seven years ago. Since they both grew up in Baltimore and are true Baltimorians, Federal Hill Park was the perfect location for their engagement session. The park shows some of the best Baltimore has to offer – the Ravens Stadium and the Inner Harbor.

They chose to incorporate Mr. Boh and Miss Utz tees into their engagement session since Douglas is a huge National Bohemian (Natty Boh) fan. They say Mr. Boh and Miss Utz are “the perfect Baltimore couple” and the pair signifies their love of Baltimore, National Bohemian Beer and Utz Potato chips. Their wedding will be held this September on their seven year anniversary!”

DIY: How to Make a Basic Bouquet

Note: We are, by no means, professional florists or designers. We do highly recommend seeking an experienced professional for your wedding floral needs.

ITEMS REQUIRED FOR THIS PROJECT:

Corsage Pins ($2.50), Floral Tape ($2), Ribbon ($4), Flowers ($34)

OTHER ITEMS:

Scissors/Knife (to cut stems), Ruler (to measure length of bouquet)

FLORAL BREAKDOWN BY COST:

Purple Carnations ($8), Green Hypericums ($4), Purple Trachelium Bunch ($6), Pink Lisianthus ($8), Scabiosa Pods ($8)

Unless you’re going for a more wild/rustic bouquet look, we recommend trimming off most of the leaves.

Arrange your flowers the way you want them and be sure your bouquet is fairly rounded + even.

Wrap a small piece of floral tape around the stems, to temporarily hold everything in place.

11-13 inches from the top-most flower to the bottom of the bouquet is the ideal size for most bouquets.

I cut the bouquet’s stems with a sharp knife, then trimmed here-and-there with scissors.

After trimming, wrap the stems in floral tape. Leave 1-2 inches from the top and bottom of the stems.

Wrap your bouquet (ribbon or whatever you’ve decided to use). Burlap and thick twine also work well.

I began at the top, wrapped until I was 1 inch from the bottom, then re-wrapped back up to the top.

Tuck or fold the end of your ribbon, then place corsage pins to hold the ribbon in place.

To avoid stabbing, place the pins at a downward angle. Pins can extend to the bottom or stop part way.

It’s really all up to your preference, but I ended up creating a short, tight zig-zag pattern.

We hope this tutorial helped to guide you in the right direction!

Landis Valley Village & Farm Wedding by tPoz Photography

Although our blog is based in Baltimore, we love to feature weddings both in and out of the city limits. Today’s creative wedding took place in Lancaster, PA at the Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum. A huge thank you goes to tPoz Photography for sharing her work with us via Two Bright Lights. We’ll let Teri take it from here…

“Dana and Charlie have been together for 12 years – since high school! Dana took a letterpressing class and created all of the invitations, programs, coasters, and other paper goods herself. They kept with the Baltimore Ravens colors of Purple & Black, as the bridesmaids wore their own unique black dress, while the groomsmen wore purple ties.

Cocktail hour was complete with yard games: checkers, baggo, croquet, and more! Their reception tables were decorated in a rustic romantic fashion, with burlap table runners, and coasters reading “For your Brew – From the Brewers.” Dana hand-painted large black canisters with Ravens players’ jersey numbers, which held chilled bottles of champagne for guests.

In lieu of favors, the couple made a generous donation to the Charm City Animal Rescue. Instead of a traditional wedding cake, Pumpkin Pie, Shoefly Pie, and Peach Pie was served. Their group of friends had an amazing bond, and the love they share for one another can be felt a mile away.”
