Emmitsburg Wedding by Sugar Farm Productions

Today’s fun and laid back wedding takes place in two beautiful locations: Emmitsburg, MD and New Oxford, PA. We’ll take Alison from Sugar Farm Productions take it from here:

“Rory and Corey live in Brooklyn, NY where Rory is a clothing designer and has her own very unique jewelry line. The ceremony took place at St. Anthony’s Shrine, a beautiful catholic church and ceremony. After the ceremony, we took the couple up to National Shrine Grotto of Lourdes. It overlooks Emmitsburg and the hills and valleys of the region, which made for some stunning images. The reception was held in the groom’s father’s backyard in New Oxford, PA. A large rolling green hilled property along the Conewago Creek. Our photographs made the most of the gorgeous setting and got some amazingly stunning shots of the bride and groom standing on a rock in the river (what troopers they were!). Rory made all the leather cuffs for her bridesmaids including a beautiful leather hairpiece for herself. The reception was a blast and the most wonderful thing about the entire day was that all the friends that were involved in the celebration. It was such a nice change from many over-produced weddings that we see so much of these days.”

Planning 101: Wedding Insurance

This is probably one of the very last things you’d like to hear about when planning a wedding, but wedding insurance is something to consider. Today, we’ll be discussing the basics of this topic.

Planning 101: Wedding Insurance

Q: What is wedding insurance?

It’s just like any other type of insurance, yet many couples aren’t even aware that wedding insurance is available to them. It’s a way for couples to protect themselves (and their investment) from out-of-control circumstances surrounding their wedding day. Many unexpected things can happen and it’s always great to be prepared!

Q: What does it typically cover?

It typically covers situations beyond your control. Issues can include extremely inclement weather, problems with the event venue, wedding vendors not showing up, and sickness/injury of anyone essential to the wedding. If you’re a member of the military and concerned about a change of wedding date (deployment or last-minute duties), wedding insurance can cover a postponement of the wedding. Also, most vendors require a non-refundable deposit or retainer fee, in which case your wedding insurance may cover your loss of investment.

Q: So, it covers everything then?

Unfortunately, this is not the case. Wedding bands are typically included in some plans, but details such as heirlooms or other precious jewelry may not. It also does not cover wedding cancellations due to a change of heart. Talk to your insurance agent about any concerns you might have.

Q: Is it necessary in my situation?

Wedding insurance is definitely something to consider. Many vendors are insured on their own, so it’s great to check with them first. If you’re having a very low-key, budget wedding (backyard affair, courthouse elopement, etc), wedding insurance probably is not vital to your situation. If lots of traveling is involved and important items are being transported from a distance, it may be something you should consider.

Every insurance policy is different and every wedding situation is unique. If wedding insurance is something you’d be interested in knowing more about, contact your insurance agent for further details.

Washington DC Engagement by Emily Chastain Photography

Today’s e-session, featuring this handsome couple, showcases photos of their everyday life and true love of one another.

From photographer, Emily Chastain: “Mark and Jeb’s engagement shoot was truly a joy to shoot! We hit up their favorite local spots (Ben’s Chili Bowl, Nellie’s, and Meridian Hill Park), but what I enjoyed most was the glimpse into their everyday lives. I photographed them doing crossword puzzles in bed, coffee in the kitchen, riding bikes and hanging out with friends. Jeb and Mark are kind and generous (I know this because they bought me a chili dog) and together are a perfect match.”

LoveBirds: Things To Do Around Baltimore – February Edition

It seems as though winter has finally arrived! And with the colder weather, we have another edition of LoveBirds with things to do with your sweetheart in the month ahead. Read on!

LoveBirds: Things To Do Around Baltimore – February Edition

  • A great way to start the month… watching our Baltimore Ravens win the Superbowl! (Because we KNOW they will!) Need a great place to celebrate the game? Head down to Edgewater to the Chesapeake Cigar & Tobacco Company for their Super Bowl Party & Chili Cook-Off. Sounds like a delicious way to watch our boys win!
  • Are you a sushi lover? Well I definitely am, and one of my favorite places to go is Yamato Sushi in Lutherville. This jewel of a restaurant is located in a shopping plaza, the last place you’d expect to find great sushi, but it is a must-visit! My recommendation: the Hula Roll. Trust me.
  • Who can forget Valentine’s is coming up soon? There are so many options of ways to celebrate your love, and a great recommendation is the Love Is In The Art event at the Walters Art Museum. This special edition of their Constellation Thursday Nights series will feature live music, cash bar by Rye Fells Point, “a short but sweet romance-inspired love tour”, free hors d’oeuvres and chocolate treats, and best of all: free admission.
  • We’ve finally gotten our first significant snowfall here in Baltimore, and hopefully we’ll get a bit more… that is, enough to get out and sled in! When that snowfall does come, we’ve got a few great places to hit the slopes:
  1. Patterson Park – One of the city’s largest parks, Patterson Park boasts multiple hills / areas where sledders can enjoy an exhilirating ride down a hill.
  2. Oregon Ridge Park – located in Cockeysville, this multi-purpose park and nature center feature a fantastic sledding area that used to be a skiing slope in the 1960’s.
  3. Loch Raven High School – located in Parkville, we’ve heard great things about the hills at this county high school. Disclaimer: This is not a public park, so please observe the rules when on a school property.

Happy February, LoveBirds!
