You may recognize this gorgeous couple, as we featured Ali+Jacob’s engagement session exactly one year ago today! And we were thrilled when Brittany DeFrehn Photography followed up to show us how their wedding turned out! Their classic winter wedding at The Belvedere had a New Year’s festive vibe to it, and we love the glitz & glamour! “Ali has quite the style and the gold dresses, furs, her own ostrich feather stole, “princess gown” complete with snowflake buttons, were very representative of her desire for stylish yet classic. The gold and feathers were carried out through the bridesmaids details and the reception. Guests stayed at Hotel Monaco and were shuttled to Corpus Christi before for a traditional ceremony. Afterwards, guests were taken to The Belvedere for cocktails, among large plumes of white feathers and personalized bottles of champagne. Ali and Jacob’s day can only be described as a festive year end celebration!”
We’re going to pretend it’s warm & sunny out right now, just like Dakim+Rebecca’s Southern Maryland engagement session from Laura Elizabeth Photography! Laura shared a little bit about the location – “Recently, I shot an engagement shoot of a couple that I went to college with- and they are the biggest sweethearts. The engagement shoot was set at the college, St. Mary’s College of Maryland, that we all went to and as we toured the campus we talked about all the good times we had at all the special places we stopped, especially “The Point”. The Point was a favorite hangout for most college students, even locals (like myself) and it is a sandbar at one point in the St. Mary’s River and it has a nice sandy beach to lay out on in between classes and watch the sailboats pass by in the early days of the first semester or the late days of the last.”
Hi there, I’m Teri Pozniak, aka tPoz!! If you missed Rochelle’s announcement yesterday, I was warmly welcomed to Charm City Wed as the new Editor-in-Chief, and I thought I would take this opportunity to introduce myself!
I’ve been a Baltimore wedding photographer since 2008, and tPoz Photography has been my blood, sweat & tears ever since!
If you follow me on Instagram (and you totally should!) you’ll know that in addition to weddings, I love dogs, food & traveling! My husband & I foster dogs for BARCS Animal Shelter; I’m a huge foodie who loves truffled anything; and I love to explore new places, as well as visit my favorite place on earth – St. Maarten! (You should also follow Charm City Wed on Instagram!)
I love the Baltimore wedding community, and showing off the talents that everyone has, is a goal of mine with this blog. I can’t wait to see the prettiness that Baltimore weddings and engagements have in store for 2015! Feel free to submit your Baltimore & surrounding area events via our Submissions page, or via Two Bright Lights. We’re also accepting applications for the carefully curated Vendor Guide! I’m looking forward to continuing the success that Serena & Rochelle have started with Charm City Wed, and I’m thrilled to have you guys along for the ride! Much Love, ♥ tPoz
Happy New Year Baltimore! Congratulations to all of the couples who became engaged over the holidays. We are so excited to be one of your resources for all things wedding in Baltimore!
Have you made any resolutions for this year yet? I have to admit I haven’t given it much thought. I spent the end of 2014 reflecting on how grateful I was for being brought through a very difficult year, and how happy I am to be just where I am. Sometimes that may be better than resolving to change anything. But on the other hand… resolutions are still good. Changing for the better is great. I just may make a New Year’s resolution by the end of this post!
I’d like to get a bit personal for a moment, and share some bittersweet news. As of today, I will be officially handing over the duties of Editor-in-Chief to my good friend and fellow Baltimore wedding vendor, Teri Pozniak oftPoz Photography. Please welcome Teri! :) I am very excited for her and I know she is going to do amazing things for Charm City Wed. I will stay on as a Contributing Editor and Wedding Show Coordinator.
Why the change? Well, that is the personal part. We all know that life is more than just the pretty photos we see online. I often look at the happy couples we feature and wonder, ‘What’s their story? What struggles and victories have they experienced?’ So here’s a part of my story: from a young age, I have suffered from balance issues and vertigo. As I grew older I learned that vestibular disorders, as they’re called, can be caused by hundreds of things, and no doctor could figure out exactly what I was suffering from. This past year my suffering reached a critical level, and suddenly life was a lot more difficult. I only had enough energy to focus on two things: my family and getting better. So I made the difficult decision to start the process of promoting a new Editor-In-Chief. I knew that it was the best decision to focus on taking things off my plate, re-centering myself, and allowing someone much more able to give 100% effort on the blog for readers when I knew I could not. It was a difficult decision, but I truly feel a good one! I am also happy to report that through many, many visits to new specialists, I have finally been diagnosed (Migraine Associated Vertigo & BPPV), and have started feeling much better.
Along with that, I have one other big announcement to make. (Stay with me here!) Due to the change of ownership and my own personal setbacks as described above, Charm City Wed’s annual wedding show The Mix Event will be pushed back one year. I would much rather take ample time to coordinate a fabulous show than try to throw it together last minute, and I hope you agree! Contributing Editor and Co-Founder Serena and I absolutely loved throwing this show last year, and we can’t wait to do so again. The second annual Mix Event will now be on February 27th, 2016! The Mix Event’s new site will be up on March 1st of this year with information for both vendors and attendees.
Thank you to all of our readers, supporters, and the Baltimore wedding vendor community. I resolve to make 2015 the best year yet, and help promote the Baltimore wedding industry in any way possible. Cheers!
