Tell us about yourself and your company.

Flavor Cupcakery is a boutique bakery specializing in cupcakes and cakes but we are also becoming known for our French Macarons, Pies, Truffles and Parfaits!  We have two shops (one in Cockeysville & one in Bel Air) and a Truck that serve the Greater Baltimore area.
We are so happy to offer not only an amazing variety of flavors for all seasons and occasions, but we pride ourselves on our freshness and use of the highest quality ingredients around.  Every item we make not only needs to taste incredible but it also has to be beautiful and gift-worthy.  This is why our products not only serve as wedding desserts but also make for a gorgeous wedding display!

How did you find yourself in the wedding industry?

I always wanted to be the Proprietor of a beautiful shop that brought beauty and joy to people and also got me involved in the midst of my community.  I decided a cupcake shop was the perfect avenue for this goal because of its amazing opportunity for creative beauty and the ability to give people a “happy stop” in the middle of their days and put smiles on their faces.  The bonus for me has been that our cupcakes and other desserts are perfect for weddings, showers, and all sorts of special events so people come to us for all the most important events in their lives!

What inspires you or your work?

The everyday creativity of beautiful dessert creations keeps me creatively inspired.  It’s so fun to always be dreaming up new flavor combinations and new aesthetic decorating ideas with my Pastry Staff.  We also collaborate a lot with our customers and fellow businesses to come up with new flavors and designs.  We also are asked daily to create unique custom cakes and cupcake decorations for our customers – you can never get bored when every customer has a special vision and they task Flavor to help make it extra beautiful and special!

What’s your favorite part about a wedding?

There is nothing more satisfying than watching a bride and groom’s wedding vision come to life!  To be a part of the collaboration of vendors who are working to put the day together – from food, to florists, to linens, etc… – and we come in to set up the dessert display and we get to see how the desserts become such an important part of the overall visual impact of the wedding. I also love the planning stages when I’m working with the couples and making sure I understand all their wants/needs.  We work with the nicest people and always have fun during the planning stage.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your field?

I’ve learned to always stay on the cutting edge of trends in wedding and special occasion desserts!  I want to be sure I’m offering a product that brides and grooms want, new dessert and flavor trends and display stands that let the perfect display be put together.

A good piece of advice for brides and/or grooms to be?

It’s funny because I would like to tell brides and grooms to “enjoy the planning process, don’t let it stress you out too much…” but to be honest, they show me this relaxed attitude all the time.  I’m always amazed at how well our brides and grooms keep the planning in perspective or they trust their Wedding Coordinators or families to help with the details and keep the joy in perspective!
