“Music is the soundtrack of your life.” ~ Dick Clark. The bride, Kayleigh, works in the music industry, and the couple used music in creative ways throughout their Shade Trees and Evergreens Wedding. Kayleigh’s Entrance song was “Here Comes The Sun” by the Beatles. During the ceremony, they hammered their time capsule closed to “Stubborn Love” by The Lumineers. The couple’s Recessional song was “Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve. The Wedding Party Entrance at the reception was “Love Story” by Taylor Swift. Their first dance as a couple was “Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not” by Thompson Square. And the father-daughter dance was “Steady As We Go” by Kayleigh’s favorite, Dave Matthews Band.

Kayleigh’s shares “We had the ultimate DIY wedding. Casual, but elegant. Laid back with lots of burlap and glass jarware. Shade Trees & Evergreens in Libertytown, MD was the setting for both the ceremony and reception. This venue is a blank slate (tabula rasa) for design…not that it needs much décor, because the open-land field and pond setting is so pretty on its own.” Her advice for couples planning their weddings: “Don’t sweat the small stuff and do your own thing. Don’t let anyone tell you that you “can’t” or that your ideas are non-traditional. That is exactly what we wanted to achieve and everyone loved it! Make your day YOURS and don’t be afraid to be creative and unique. I made sure to meet with tons of vendors and then chose the ones that I meshed with the best and followed my gut.”
