Sometimes when things don’t go as planned, they turn out even more spectacularly than you could imagine! Take this 1840’s Ballroom City Lites Wedding from Photography by Brea – “Originally Erin+Jason’s ceremony was going to be outside in the courtyard of the Carrollton Inn, but they made the decision to move it inside to the 4th floor of the 1840s Ballroom due to the cold. It’s such a gorgeous space and was the perfect backdrop for their ceremony!”
Personal touches, and a bit of Maryland history, made this Jefferson Patterson Park wedding from tPoz Photography truly special! Bride, Sarah, tells us more about why they picked the venue for their big day! “We picked Jefferson Patterson Park, because it felt like us. It was a blank canvas, rustic and had a lot of Maryland History to it (Brett loves History), so it just seemed the like perfect fit. We didn’t want anything fancy or uptight, just something low key and fun. Outdoors and near the water, was something else we had wanted, to have that open and Maryland feel. Jefferson Patterson Park is GORGEOUS, and so many people do not know about it. We didn’t technically have a “theme” but we ended up doing pretty much all things Maryland. Since B & I were both born & raised here, we have great pride in our state & the history in it.” “We were surprised with and adored our locally grown flowers, but the one thing that we requested, and that Ellen from Local Color Flowers hunted down for us, since it was technically out of season, was Hops. She used that as the basis of the boutonnieres and added the colors around it.” “We made our ceremony centerpiece from a piece of an old wooden fence that I got a Lucketts Flea for 10 dollars; we painted it with Annie Sloan Chalkpaint in white to give it the rustic look of a white picket fence.” “My mom came in HUGE for us with the reception decor. She made ALL the table runners for the tables. We picked out different patterned fabric in orange, purple & gray. So every table would essentially be a little different from another. We also had fabric pennants, which my mom made as well, hanging from the barn, in the same color scheme (orange, gray, purple) and they had completely different patterns then the table runners, I even found a gray & orange crab fabric and white Christmas lights hanging from the barn ceiling as well.” “We didn’t want to do a traditional wedding cake, so instead we did 8 different Smith Island Cakes (which are actually the State Cake!) and put a twist on it, since our last name is Smith!” “We knew that we didn’t want traditional wedding food. Being at a rustic barn, we thought of our wedding as a chic BBQ, so that’s what we went for. For the main course, Smokey Joe’s catered some delish NC style pulled pork, pulled chicken, Pit Beef & Pit Corned Beef. For sides we had roasted potatoes, veggie medley and mac & cheese (OMG so good!), Garden Salad and mini rolls. Besides the cakes, we decided to do a S’mores bar; I’m pretty obsessed with the gooey treat, so it was something that we both decided on doing pretty quickly. We had the regular grahams and the chocolate grahams, dark and milk chocolate, reeses PB cups, regular marshmallows and a variety of specialty ones including caramel swirl, toasty coconut, chocolate chipetta, and vanilla bean. We had it set up on table with the marshmallows in different glass apothecary containers and the chocolate & grahams in metal containers. We used a vintage chicken feeder to hold stones & the sternos in there, and just wooden kabob sticks to cook the marshmallows!”
When I saw this wedding at Celebrations at the Bay from Emily Chastain Photography, I knew we had to show off all of these gorgeous images! From the personalized kicks to their beautiful floral arrangements to the handmade reception decor, all bright bold & beautifully captured. And that last silhouette night shot is just perfection!! Emily shares a few words: “Sherry and Penny have the gift of making people feel special, which is truly a remarkable gift to have. It became clear to me pretty quickly on their wedding day exactly how many lives they’ve touched and how many people love them. I was honored to witness a beautiful, intimate ceremony and I loved that Penny and Sherry recessed out to Macklemore’s Same Love! It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know these two better and I am happy to call them friends!”
I’m mildly obsessed with the ruffly flowy stripey Hayley Paige wedding gown in this gorgeous Cylburn Arboretum wedding! Just looking at it makes me want to do twirls on a rolling green lawn! And the lush backdrop of the gardens at the arboretum were the perfect setting! Misa Me Photography shares a bit about this beautiful wedding day “Despite it raining cats and dogs, there was so much happiness squished into this one great day! It was the perfect blend of modern elegance and touches of romanticism. Picture pops of lavender, a killer set of heels, the groom sporting a suit in the greatest shade of blue, giant floor to ceiling windows serving as the backdrop for an intimate ceremony. Then top all of that off with an epic cake smash!”
