A few weeks ago, events were upended by the curfew imposed by the Mayor, due to the unrest in Baltimore City, and planners, caterers and couples scrambled to either relocate or revise the timing of the weekend’s weddings. MaryCarol and Chris handled the move graciously, and their Sparrows Point Country Club wedding was gorgeous! I simply adore the gold sparkly shoes that compliment her sparkly belt and Vera Wang dress. And the florals from My Flower Box Events are just stunning! Lauren C Photography shares a bit about their wedding day. “MaryCarol and Chris were married amongst family and friends at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Federal Hill, with their reception at Sparrows Point Country Club. This, however, was not the original plan. MaryCarol and Chris were informed 4 days prior to their wedding that their reception venue was cancelling all of their scheduled weddings for the weekend of May 2nd due to safety concerns as a result of the Baltimore riots. Miraculously, they were able to secure their new venue and Sparrows Point CC was even able to recreate their originally planned menu for them. The smile never left MaryCarol’s face that day despite all the stress she had been going through the preceeding 4 days. She truly looked like a Princess and Chris was her perfect Prince Charming.”

Kathleen Hertel Photography shared this gorgeous Swan Harbor Farm wedding with us, as well as a little bit about Colleen+Derek’s wedding day! “A few weeks before the wedding Derek broke his leg and was in a walking cast. He had a boot on the whole day, but you would have never noticed with the way he rocked the dance floor! They held their wedding ceremony under a beautiful old tree in the front of the Farm house, and it culminated with a butterfly release! During their reception their guests partied the night away. Their cake was topped with Colleen’s grandmother’s cake topper.”
And bride, Colleen, shares some of the challenges of wedding planning! “Planning was so much fun, it mostly involved my sisters and my mom, but we definitely sought Derek’s opinion at times. We started this journey in a pretty typical manner and went to a bridal expo in Baltimore to get ideas. I searched high and low for a venue with a tent already set up and stumbled upon Swan Harbor Farm in Havre de Grace. After the venue was chosen, my sisters, my mom and I went shopping for a wedding dress! I went to four different stores, and after about the 40th dress of the day, I burst into happy tears the moment I put on THE dress! The veil choice was easy, because it was my moms from 30 years ago. The caterer was a tough choice, but we ended up choosing Dean and Brown because they offered to make Derek’s mom’s Mac+Cheese recipe! Most people told me the tent did not need any lights hung because of the beautiful setting already. I had been in touch with Event dynamics for about a year knowing I wanted to hang lights of some sort and they were very flexible, I literally finalized details the week before the wedding and I don’t regret the money I spent on that for a minute- they MADE the tent!”
This Silver Spring engagement session from Nessa K Photography has a little bit of a lost-world feel to it! “Leif and Yorie wanted something a bit abandoned. A little run down and rugged to contrast with the bright colors of their outfits. So we found an abounded area and we went into the woods as the sun set, sun blaring bright until it crept into the trees. We explored the forest, finding streams, overgrown statues, staircases that lead to nowhere, and paths that seemed to be cut out just for us. When we asked, they said it was a school before. It had just been forgotten. A tiny, ivy-covered campus all for us.” Props to Modern Bridal Studio for the makeup & hairstyling.
