Vendor Spotlight: Love by Serena

Tell us about yourself and your company.

I’m an East Coast (Maryland) based destination wedding & elopement photographer – traveling anywhere for couples in love. My husband and second shooter, Chad, and I work together as a team to capture all of the fun and little moments of a wedding day.

How did you find yourself in the wedding industry?

Being a full-time wedding photographer was never something I “dreamt” of doing. After being asked to second shoot a wedding, I fell in love. It was amazing and I loved being surrounded by happy, upbeat people. After some time photographing weddings on the side, I decided to quit my day job at a biotech company and dive head first into wedding photography with Love by Serena. I absolutely adore my job and the wonderful people I get to work with.

What inspires you or your work?

Beautiful natural light, the outdoors, traveling the world, and the love between two people – no matter who they are.

What do you love about working weddings?

It’s an honor, to me, to be invited to document one of the most important day in a couple’s lives. I get to witness their true love for one another and see all of their closest friends and family come together for a celebration. The moments and emotions that I capture are ones that they will cherish for the rest of their lives.

What’s your favorite part about a wedding?

My favorite part of the wedding is when the couple sees each other for the first time. Many couples are now choosing to see one another for the first time, prior to the ceremony (a “First Look”). I love being able to capture the reaction: sweet smiles, happy tears, and the “I Love You.”

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your field?

It’s not about you; it’s about them. When things do not go as planned, it’s your job to keep a positive vibe. “Keep Calm and Carry On!”

A good piece of advice for brides and/or grooms to be:

Make it your day. Your wedding is a celebration of your marriage to one another. If you aren’t the traditional types, then don’t go a traditional route – simple as that! Just have fun and enjoy!
