Letter From The Editors: For The Love of Blogging

A little over 2 years ago, Serena and I attended an Annapolis wedding vendors meet-up, sponsored by the lovely ladies at Bayside Bride. As we sat there eating and chatting, we agreed that it was unfortunate that the Baltimore area did not have a wedding blog, just as Annapolis and DC did. Then we looked at each other– and it was as if the heavens opened.. giant lightbulbs appeared over our heads… you get the picture. “Why don’t WE start one?” “Ok… let’s do it!” And so, Charm City Wed was born.

As we started prepping for the launch of the blog, one of our biggest concerns was… what if those blogs and wedding resources that are already established view us as competition? We both firmly believed (and still do) that there is plenty of wedding inspiration to go around. We knew that we weren’t out to copy anyone or steal anyones work. We even made a point to sit down with the Editor in Chief of Baltimore Bride Magazine and let her know what we’re doing, and to this day, we are good friends and mutually support one another’s work. There really is nothing to be gained from climbing over one another to try and be the one on top. The best way to the top is hand and hand with others you’ve helped along the way!

And that being said, within the past year 2 other wedding blogs have launched in the DC/MD/VA area, and we thought it would be a great time to highlight and give a shout out to the region-based wedding blogs around us!
